T8 Fixtures
Hubby salvaged a couple of 36" dual-lamp T8 fixtures from a construction site. I've done some browsing, and Zoo Med still makes some T8 bulbs that are available online in Canada, and maybe even locally from one of the bigger stores.
Should the Zoo Med T8s work in regular T8 fixtures? I'm looking at the: Reef Sun (http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/En...D=2&SearchID=3) Coral Sun (http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/En...I7czoxOiIwIjt9) Ocean Sun (http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/En...I7czoxOiIwIjt9) If they'll work, what should I choose for moderate lighting over a 40B? Just softies and LPS right now. I'm going to be moving more into LPS, and have a bunch more coming. SPS are probably still a few months off. The T8 bulbs would be temporary over the 40B we're working on. I'll be picking up a different fixture (T5) this weekend, but that one will be modded before being used, and the mods could take a while. Hubby will affix the fixtures to a piece of plywood and we'll hang it from the ceiling for the time being: probably 12" or so above the tank. |

cant really keep a lot under t8s maybe some mushrooms and zoas, really undemanding low lights. sps obviously would be a no go with them. My very first nano, was a t8 and I had zoas, zenia, candy cane, mushrooms, gsp and kenya tree, the stayed alive for 2 month til' I upgraded but I never saw any growth

If I can keep everything alive until the T5 fixture is modded, that would be great.
I do have a frag rack that I can place the LPS on to move them closer to the lights for the time being, too. |
