Hahahaha! Well, you go to the same area camping for a week for 7 years in a row...you will recognise the area in the background of photos. It is definitely a remarkable location.

THIS is Shambhala! 15,000 people last year, and 5 stages playing different types of music from electronic (breaks, dubstep, and dnb mainly for those savvy in the terminology) to disco to reggae.

And this is me at Sham (with a little bragging):

And anyone who's been to Sham would recognise where I'm standing in this one:

Ha ha, this thread keeps popping up every once in a while, glad it's still going strong. Since we're on the subject of favourite spots (Moraine Lake is a classic), here's an update.
I love the mountains too, mostly in the winter though. Unlike my daughter and many of my friends, I never was much for going south in the winter to the sunny beaches of Mexico etc.
I get sufficient sunshine during the Okanagan summers thank you.
Winter is for skiing, preferably in the backcountry, after all BC (and parts of Alberta) have some of the best places in the world for that.
Here are a couple of shots from this past Feb/March at Vista hut in the Esplanade Range just west of the Columbia River and the Rockies. Life is good.

Atop Trundle Ridge with the Rockies in the background across the Columbia River Valley

I stitched a few shots together for a panorama using MS ICE.
Trundle Point at left, Vista Peak at right, with Caribou, Jalibi Peaks and Bearing Point comprising the center massif

For all you snowsports enthusiasts and anyone else with a little time on their hands, here's a link to a photo share slide show with soundtrack of the Vista Hut trip.
There's an option to view full screen and the timing may be changed as well.

Many backcountry lodges also offer summer hiking tours as well... Ok, that's my plug for the BC/Alta tourism industry....
