Are you giving some sort of sand bed in a box for it to sleep? As far as I know, they need deep sand bed to sleep or else they get stressed.

A sand bed would be appreciated for sure. And it doesn't have to be that deep. Have about an inch of sand (1.5" inch at most) that my sand sleepers burrow into. They just lay sidways to get under the sand.

Also, I know that this is a top down tank and you don't want to cover it, but wrasses in generally are very good jumpers. Some more than others but as a whole family, they do love to dart around in all directions, including straight up.

a buddy of mine has one in his BB tank that has been in there for 5+ years with zero issues. I have read that they like to burry themselves but when i had one in my 120 years ago, it never went into the sand. At night it found its way to its hole in a rock when he locked himself in for the night.

Yea i hear ya. All fish have that jump potential and wrasses are one of the worst. We are just crossing our fingers. He has been in there for a week with no signs of jumping yet but obviously that can change in an instant. The last thing i want to do is screen the top to keep fish in, but if its something that has to be done in the long run, we will figure it out

My Canary Wrasse doesn't jump, but does dart around in all directions including up, doesn't seem to jump though, although I do have a tall tank and he seems to be a mid-level swimmer, until he burries himself in the sand bed and sleeps that is.
