![]() So, I'm planning on building the light rack for the 250W Metal Halides on the Bowfront tonight.
Which configuration would you use on a bowfront tank? ![]()

![]() #2. The variation in depth front to back is not really as significant as you might think.
You're going with 4x250? I'm not sure you need that much. I'd think 3x250 would be plenty over this size a tank ..

![]() Yeah I'm thinking because it's going to be an SPS dominated tank, and the reflectors are small in comparison to other models (due to space in my canopy) that 4 would be better.
But open to suggestions? I could definitely just use 3. Would 4 be overkill? I could always pop in a 6500 K bulb and put one of them over the mangrove fuge.

![]() I agree. The 2nd variation would make the most sense. Those MH will easily cover the width of the tank. 4 is a little overkill and you could easily get away with 3 x 250 if you wanted. Just thinking of the energy savings in your case. Either way, will work though.

Well I suppose that means that I wouldn't have to buy another light for the mangrove fuge. lol.

The 2nd one is better but 4 will be overkill, I have 3 250watt MH over my 230g and they throw plenty of light

![]() Looking really really nice!
I run lots of lights but only have all my halides on for 2 hours for a "high noon" effect. They are staggered the rest of the day. Saves on power and heat yet gives everything the blast it needs. |
