Default finally a tank again:)

after all week of cleaning up the zoa tank and getting things back to the way they were im finally making some progress, aiptasia is down to under 100heads ive spent most of the days getting alot of the bigger ones with lemon juice so far its worked again all parameters are good calicum is back to 460 and nitrates and phosphates are very low ive been doing alot of water changes and running alot of new carbon and it shows lol the tank is looking great.my sea hare is starting to finish up and ive been mowing all i can.cyano has been sucked out with a baster and it seems to be staying gone for a bit alot of my zoas are now opening again as ive gotten the aiptasia in them.

im so happy ive bought a couple additions the first is a elegance with purple tips and the second is a mulit colony of zoas rather large with about 4-5 different colonies on them.

cheers!!

now for the zoas

Tank looks nice I like the shape and rock placement.
Just some friendly help it looks like you have some decent algae growth you might want to think about some sort of control.
Like a emerald crab for that bubble algae and some snails etc. If you don't it will take over and kill your corals. Some of the Zoe's are kind of closed they will be a lot more happy if you have bare rocks with no algae.
I know that you have skimmer less but you might want to get one to help with your algae.
Really nice picture of your elegance coral.

yeah ive been doing some work to get things back to normal, all my old rock doesnt have any algae on it but the tonga branch seems to attract it very easily.when i first set up the tank a couple years ago i figured i would let algae grow on the back and sides.....i managed to get rid of it all and this year it all came back.i have gave up on this tank this year and now that my big ones are sold im working on making this look nicer.this tank will be torn down in late december early january and will be going in the new 200g so im trying not to buy to much for equipment.i am going to be buying a phosban reactor here though this week.

Default never a dull ride!!!!

well its been a tough week on the ol tank my elegance has died and i am down my female cinnamon clown whom ive had forever , it was hosting the elegance and with the elegance being in the sand my eel was not happy about the shared territory and fought with the clown, it killed the elegance and clown.

also i am now proud to say i am aiptasia free i had about 300 heads in my 33g tank and i put in my filefish and he cleaned it right out.i removed the file fish and gave him his lay off papers this evening i told him good job but i just dont think my tank is gonna be a long term carrer for him.....he looked a me fluttered a bit then went on to eat some more of my zoas....grrrr

so far hes eaten my candy canes, hammer, xenia, numerous zoas including nuclear greens, red people eaters......to say the least weve been on bad terms and hes nothing like my last filefish.....this one was very young and i got him right out of the box.....my last one was an adult and was living tank life for a while

heres some pics of the tank and some new coral, i had to replace the nuclear greens my filefish ate with some more and since hes out of the tank i thought its time to add some nicer ones cheers
