AJ's has actually got a little more competitive over the last while. Their rock does range from 8.99/lb to 11.99/lb depending on what kind of rock it is. If you are starting a tank and you buy 50lbs or more, they cut it down by $1. Keep in mind that the rock is fully cured versus J&L where you need to cure it. This is turnkey.
On dry-goods, if you try, they will negotiate.

As for knowledge, Andrew is pretty good and the girl that runs the tanks for him is okay too. When I've had questions, Andrew has shown up at my house to help out. They are hoping to do a reno where they would triple their fish section including salt. They have 12 Salt tanks now.

Complete pet's Manager is Sharla and she is very knowledgeable. She's an avid reefer as is her husband. The store is not great for in-stock Dry-goods but she'll order just about anything for you. They are trying to slowly expand their salt tanks but with the level of staff available out there, they've seen a few mistakes made that have cost them entire tanks of livestock.
They are worth checking out though

Complete pet is on 29th st....behind Canadian Tire. If you come into town from Winfield, you turn right on 43rd Ave (by Kelly O'brians) and then left at the flashing lights 1 block up. The store is on the right side one or two streets up.

I was buying RO water from Save On...found out they have a tds of 8 ppm, and I was having some minor algae issues, so I recently bought an RO/DI unit. Now that I have 0 tds supply water I have noticed a difference. I haven't used tap water in 6 or 8 years...causes too much trouble.

I've been buying water from a local water place...don't have the setup for an RO system yet. Plan to build a new house shortly and will have everything in that.

I work for a bottled water company so free water, until I get my fish room finished and reassemble my RO/DI. If I can remember how to hook it up. I would so to the grocery store and buy water before I would use tap water. To much invested. And the fustration that comes with algae problem.

Vernon water is not great....especially if you are in the Irrigation district. Mud on the bottom of the toilet overnight...yuck.
