![]() If it is large you may be able to just slip the blade under and slice thru before it closes up. Then you can transplant it if you wish.

![]() Ive done a fair bit of mushroom fragging and I find the best way is to just lop off the head when it is expanded upwards. A new mushroom will grow from the stock and if you put the cut off head on rubble it will attach and grow. Once they are big do this to both of them and you will have 4. Doing it this way I find they grow quick and you can multiply fast if you keep at 2 4 8 16 32 64. The other option is taking the cut off head and dicing it like a pizza. This works but creates real small pieces that take alot longer to grow. I understand as long as you have a piece of the center a new mushroom will form that is why you cut like a pizza through the middle.
Hope this helps... |

![]() he doe sorry have been working alot i dont think you should frag it until it grows bigger. If i let a mushroom get big and reproduce naturally it will produce more then i could get then fragging them. A large mushromm like 4 inches can make alot a of mushrooms by it selt then razor the little ones it makes it will take you cuttings a long time to get back to the origanal size they were before cuttint them. MY large one is droping three rigt know. once they start they grow like crazy. They ones breed naturally will grow faster then a cutting in my opion.
