I believe it all comes from one facility and from one reservoir.

I live just off 17th ave in a building built in the 70's.
The water on the left is RO, the water on the right is straight out of the tap.
I can't get a decent output from my RO. DI is useless after about 10 gallons, and my RO can usually only take it down to about 35-40 ppm.

I'm sure I'm one of those cases where I have worse water than the rest of Calgary (my old place was about 180 out of the tap), but I don't even use my tap water to cook with, let alone advocate it for a reef tank.

Calgary has two treatment plants and numerous reservoirs. Just about every athletic park built in the last 10 years is over a reservoir. Turbidity etc all fluctuate depending on where in the city you are. Also if you are on a hill or not. Ie coach hill vs bowness. All water lines are tied into each other somewhere down the line. And as far as city water systems go Calgary is raked very high in the world for water quality. The labs tested 14 brands of bottled water and 9 failed federal regulations for a plumbed system.

Just my cents after working in water works for 5 years.

Wink I "thimk" I'll be buying bottled from now on........

When I looked up some specs on Calgary water it indicated that RUNOFF (uh oh) runs into the reservoirs. (And then we use it? Are you kidding?)

You're going to be doing some serious filtering even for personal use. I'm surprised local stores aren't selling "prepared" sea water. Or are they?

Now I understand the trend to nano tanks; buy your water and start there; at work we're on a well system toward Langdon (southeast Foothills) and I wouldn't add that water to my radiator. It might explode.

What test results published I see worry me as to what they're NOT testing for.
