Has anybody used it? How does it compare to the Radion?

Radion is a great fixture but the f-series will cover a lot more surface area with less money. From Sunbrite "48" fixture can cover up to 120Gal (48"x24"x24") tank"

Sunbrite has done some par testing with the 36" and they saw 200 Par on the bottom of a 65Gal (36"x18x24") tank.

Check out the number of LED's each fixture has

Darn, I just put in an order for a couple Radions last weekend. Oh well, I'll be setting up my next tank soon and I will definitely keep this in mind.

Are these wired in clusters so that if one led goes dead a whole cluster also dies out? I think that would be a major problem. What about replacing dead leds? These fixtures look really nice though. Is there a cloud simulation in the controller?

Dang! beat by another Radion! You'll love it...we sell them as well and our clients could not be happier.

The F-Series will come with modules, 36=3 modules, 48"=4modules...etc. There are 18 combination of LEDs in each module, so if one module is out you can replace just that. For the storm and cloud stimulations, you can play with with the program using dimming. Also controlable with Idevices!

Im on the fence big time on this light.........

PROS:

The savings are HUGE on these lights! (Costs half as much to light a tank as any other LED option)

The par ratings are insane! (200 at 30")

The number of LEDs in the setup is awesome! (54 on a 36")

There are 6 different types of bulbs including the UV LED's which makes for a very adaptive light setup which is perfect for us maglomaniacs!

CONS:

They are just launching in Canada, thus making the availability limited and the wait long.

They are still in the exploratory phase of the light development meaning that what they are releasing is only the 'Beta' Model.

They have only Apple supported software, but the Droid software is following behind(when? no idea)

The lights have no optics built in but in the future optics will be available.

There are so few distributors in Canada thus making ordering a test of patience.

And the good pricing is only for introductory porposes, meaning that if some of us decide to wait on future developments of this light (optics, OS combatibility for the control program, final descision on LED count and types) the price will already be increased to meet the normal Canadiam Market pricing standards.

It will be very difficult for this light to pull me away from the radion which is fully combatible, cheap to fix, expandable, fully developed, availble everywhere and not too bad on pricing(compared to the vertex)

I'm in the same boat, I'm having my display tank made that's 60" across, deciding on these lights, or the AI Vegas or the Radions.

Sorry for the late reply, I was literally up all night answering emails and pre-orders for these!

I will try to reply to your concerns with the best of my knowledge

CONS:

1- They are just launching in Canada, thus making the availability limited and the wait long.

These are coming into Canada next month. We are exclusive master distributors for Canada. Our retail side of this will not be the only store selling these. Our goal as distributors is to get these in every possible Canadian reef supply store in Canada. If you want your LFS to carry these, please have them apply at http://www.sunbritecanada.ca/

2- They are still in the exploratory phase of the light development meaning that what they are releasing is only the 'Beta' Model.

SB is not at Exploratory phase, took them a very long time with inputs from consumers to create this system. However, they still continue to work hard and take inputs in from customers. The market asked for iphone controller, we are the first one to have them. Asked for affordable with high quality LEDs, we got them. So as time goes by and technology advances, so do the F-series.

3 - They have only Apple supported software, but the Droid software is following behind(when? no idea)

Without apple software, there still be manual knobs to control the system, there will be a preset timer setting on the power supply. We want these to be out first, Android will come at at a later time. The main point is to show consumers that these are top notch aquarium lights at affordable prices. We can promise that even if the price fluctuate, it will still cheaper than all high end LED’s.

PS. You can buy used I-phone just to control these. Im sure you can get one under $100, just a thought :-)

4 - The lights have no optics built in but in the future optics will be available.

Originally we had optics in the system, but since the par can reach to 200 without optics then there is no need for them. without optics we have better spread. 5W LEDs with optics are too much for corals, you would melt the heck out of them. So, we still get massive par without the extra cost associated with optics.

5 - There are so few distributors in Canada thus making ordering a test of patience.

As with number 1 - These are coming into Canada next month. We are exclusive master distributors for Canada. Our retail side of this will not be the only store selling these. Our goal as distributors is to get these in every possible Canadian reef supply store in Canada. If you want your LFS to carry these, please have them apply at http://www.sunbritecanada.ca/

If it does go up it will not be by much. The ONLY thing that will make the current model go up is border duty and transport fees. SB’s goal is to offer the best LED’s possible at the best possible prices. So you might see a 10% - 12% raise in price once the dust settles….that means the 72” model will run you $1540 - $1550 instead of $1400. Still very very affordable and still cheaper than trying to bring them in from USA yourself form one of the US retailers.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
