Funny I have been running mag pumps for my whole hobby since 2002 and never had any problems with them.. i have ran the 3,5,7,9,12,18 with no negitive feedback

Usually the neg feedback on Mags is just the noise. Like someone else said on the forum here, they are very reliable. I previously tried Sedra's and I had three in a row seize within their first two weeks of operation. I gave up on them completely.

They are good pumps but I find they produce more heat and are noisier than the Eheim. On the flip side they are considerably cheaper though.

Had a quiet one and couldn't get rid of it fast enough as it was nothing but trouble and loud. Picked up an ehiem and could not be happier

I got some aqua globes from Mitch at bow valley and man those little guys move so much water and are reletivly quiet, they are mag drive.

So I see lots of suggestions on pumps but what flow should his pump be putting out for his tank. How many gph should it be rated for? I would like to know this as well, how do you determine what gph have to be moved in the tank?

i have a red dragon 4.5 pump ive been thinking about selling,im just not using it, they are completely silent so there good if noise matters, if someone gave me $350 id probably sell it.

Red Dragon all the way best pump i have ever owned silent i cant hear it run ever some and seem to be realizable and amazing customer service
