Hi Troy, Hows things? I will be around more. Was not to much activity around the start. I use to just read some threads. When yer on 8 boards, one tends to frequent busy ones & RC is my home{ so to speak }board.

Now that you guys are going well,{nice job Titus}, I certainly will be here more.

We were thinking of a trip out that way in the summer. Have not been there since '87, unless you count the 6hrs in your airport on the way to Hawaii in '96. Dont remember to much about that one. Long time to spend in an airport lounge,

My bro lives in Langly. He moved there from the island. Is that far from you guys?

We just bought a new house,{across the street, big move,eh}, so I hope that is all done by then. At least I have an excuse for a larger tank now.

It would be really nice to get together, if we come there. I love barbies, brewskys & reefs.

Well You aren't far from Troy that is for sure. Or your brother I mean. I am across the bridge in Coquitlam. There are quite a few of us in a fairly close proximity actually. Some nice tanks

Keep us posted. With the summer that is. I am around. Being a student again gives me all kinds of time off(like now) and summers off.

Shane, I would guess with the online store coming up and the commercial ventures of the sponsors, more exposure is good. I would also guess that the cost of running a greater volume site is expected to be compensated with increased revenue from the store and attracting more sponsors. But that's just me guessing

By increasing the number of postes to the board we are hoping to get a larger spectrum of people able to answer questions, share advice and things they have learned.

Basically expand the knowledge base. Why limit yourself to a small group when there is more available. Hopefully in time we will have a sufficiently large enough userbase that more sponsorship will be possible to ease the finiancial burden.

Brad hit it on the head.. in addition to the larger knowledge base. You can't have too much available information.

Hey Doug, I'm doing great. As Darren said, I'm not far from Langley at all. I have a huge back yard and will have a BBQ if you make it out. If you have the time we can do a tank tour as well.

Hello,

A few things I would like to say:

1) I started this board for one interest and one reason. And that is to increase the Canadian content on reef discussions. I see no reason why we can't do the same thing that our southern brothers do. Whether we'll be as big as them it's another story but certainly something we can try.

2) Having said that, I'd like to emphasize the point that the recent addition of the online store is not the factor to increase member growth. And I'd like to forever keep the two issues separated. If you do put this board's link as your signature line on other boards, do so because you are helping to grow a good community here that we have, not because you want to bring profits to Canreef Aquatics.

3) Whether Canreef Aquatics make money or not I don't care. It certainly will be nice if it does. I set my foot in this aquarium trade because I enjoy the thrill, the fun, and the excitement of reefkeeping. Note that I'm an engineering student and upon my graduation I'll be looking for a full time engineering job. No time for me to really expand on this aquarium business. At least that's what I see realistically. Maybe when I retire 30 years later, I'll be more serious in the business aspect of Canreef, but not now. How can you tell I'm not lying here? I guess if you look at what an EE makes, compared to the few reactors I sell and the amount of labour I need to put in, you'll know. I don't expect to spend 7 years working towards a Master degree without seriously thinking about working in the engineering profession. I know I want to do this since Grade 10, when I took my first electronics class, way before Canreef come to existence. So please, don't see me as a money hungry business man trying to make money off the increase membership. I just want to do something I enjoy doing, be respected about my goals and achievements, pure and simple.

4) Ever since the board started, we have experienced a good steady growth. Thanks in part to the dedicated and experienced and commited and ... members here. And yes, this includes the hard working moderators too.

5) Very recently, me and my friend (his asianconnextions site had over 150 members joined just today) were discussing about the possibilities of further expansion of this bulletin board. This include the possibility of going to dedicated server, adding more features, more content, the usual type of brainstorming that a committed web admin would do. However way this is going to be done and whatever it is going to be added, or even whether this is going to be happening anytime soon at all we don't know. One thing for sure is that nothing beats the rewarding feeling of seeing something you are working on to grow.

If there are any questions about the intention of the growth of this board, please PM me.
