Hello,

The venturi is ahead of the pump and with no salt, the bubbles are large and can cause a lot of noise in the pump. It should quiet down once you have put salt in the system.

Aspirating venturi is nice for small or valued systems. A better way of doing it is to use a real venturi device after the pump, though you need a pressure rated one then. I personally don't believe in them aspirating venturi in skimmer use as it cuts down the performance of the pump.

Titus

OK I will wait and see what the noise is like after there is salt in the water, meanwhile I'll try and improvise with some eggcrate under the skimmer.

Just wondering if anyone has run their skimmer part time and what the results were, one factor would be oxygenation which would maybe pose a problem when the skimmer is off.

I dont think running hte skimmer part time is any good... but I am no expert on that, as I havent ever tried it.

But, my ev180 takes a while to start skimming... like an hour or more. and it pulls the most stuff out a day or two after its been cleaned. If you only ran it part time, it would dry out inbetween uses and possibly wouldnt reach full potential?
