Wow, very sorry to read this... I know you've had some close calls in the past (floods, power outages, etc), and your tanks survived. But this one sounds worse. You had a very beautiful tank, and hope you get it back to its former glory (and better) before too long.
Power outages when I am away (sometimes for a couple weeks or more) are always my worst fear. I check my Apex parameters/status and web camera often (and the weather reports from back home), and so far no disasters (touch wood). And so far my Apex has not crapped out either (that would be really bad for me, too).

It has been worse actually. I once lost 100% of my corals. This time I'll probably lose maybe half my corals. That's not bad, right? :-). I'm actually more concerned about my fish as I'm more attached to them than my corals. They seem to be quite resilient and so far they appear to have all pulled through. Phew !

Exactly. They are definitely family pets. They have their own personality. Sure, I could go get another Hippo tang, but the new one just won't be quite the same as the one I currently care for. The one that I've had for over ten years now. The one that my daughter loves watching because it likes to suck air from the surface and blow it out its gills making it look like its farting. Corals I've gotten used to losing and replacing. They have zero personality The fish I would be devastated if I lost.

Totally agree. I lost 4 fish during our August freak storm and power outage (didn't have my backup power packs on hand) here, and felt really bad (still do) about that. But my corals came through OK.

What a terrible way to "celebrate" Christmas. Hopefully your beloved fishes will survive and you can get everything back in order again soon. Sorry to hear my friend.
