Boston to repeat in 2012
Vancouver has a good team, but they have to make some changes on defence and get a power forward or 2. a guy like Bertuzzi was missed. Goaltending is a very difficult decision but I think Luongo is going to have to either undergo some technical adjustments or go period. Imo saying that he has proven himself in the big games is not true. He got lucky in the Olympics and imo was outplayed by the U.S. goalie,he was just surrounded with better defence and goal scorers. The great goalies that have cup rings are consistant most of the time. a bad game can be excused, 4 bad games in a series is a death sentence. No matter how talented your team is offencively it has to be able to penatrate a good defence. While Bostons defence can appear porous at times, when they are on their game they push opposing forwards outside and dont give up a lot of real difficult shots for Thomas to handle.Thomas was great though and in the tradition of Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy a great goalie can win a series. I thought the coaching staff of the Canucks failed a bit too. I don't think they made some of the right decisions but I am not a coach so I will leave that up to them. I thought the series was chippy and the two teams definately got a "HATE" on for each other. Was it the best hockey I have ever seen? No but it was a very interesting one. This year I got the result I personally was hoping for as I have been a "B's" fan since 1967, so I am not a bandwagon jumper, I stick with my team through thick and thin. There has been a ton of thin so I don't feel any guilt when I shout out and say Wooohoooo we won the cup! The Canucks will get there again and all true fans will ride the ups and downs of their team and cheer them on no matter what "at the good old hockey game"
