Talking 240 g reef rebuild

Ok, just did a complete tear down of my 240 reef. Now lookin a little better. Starting to re-populate corals in tank. This time round Im goin with SPS and LPS as mainstay. Currently there is 400W 14000k MH front and centre of tank. The plan is to filp to led when have enough dough.

Very High intensity light near surface (tp 6-8 Inche). Thank has massive rock structure high and centre.

Calcium reactor up an running (slowly for now).
Looking for suggesions on what to put in. Any input welcome (but I may not listen. . .lol) What to dose for sps and lps success, ECT.

Good to hear the tank is coming back to life. The key to SPS is going to be patience, water clarity and flow.

Once your tank is up to speed on any re-cycle it may go through, then I would start looking to go with some LPS first...it tends to be more forgiving in my mind. It wouldn't hurt to go through a fish list on here as well since some of those little guys we like to keep tend to reek havoc on SPS.

PM me and we can get together for a brew to go over your plans.

End shot of tank from my favorite chair. . .

Ok. So I finally figured out the picture thing. I am S . M . R... T

It is painfully empty. Still trying to relight my contacts as far as supply goes.

Really open to any input on fish or corals. General feel for fish is strictly reef sensitive species.

Ok, So as it goes I got a Hammer and Torch Coral for an early birthday present from my parents(Yes I am old, but Im still their favorite), hand delivered no less.

Cheap Plug for Wai's aquaium in Calgary.
Now it is time for damage control. With the massive water change and cleaning I did comes the release of waste into the water colum.

Suprise Suprise! Im getting Filamentous Algae poppin up. My plan to combat it is a bunch of Phosguard, Carbon scrub, and new T5's (they may be a little rusty). I have a new 14000k 400w Hqi that is on the tank.

Looking to add some critters to help. Im thinking. . . Zebra knuckle hermits, Solaris Blenny, and possibly a few emerald crabs.

I would welcome any input.

Oh, and also building ATO System for RO top ups. Man Im going through a tun of water daily with evaporation.

Im looking to test a Staghorn Acro as my next coral addition.

Glad to see some pictures up here. You'll love the ATO once you get it going...I couldn't imagine still pouring it in myself and I only have a 70G going right now.

Given the tank is so big, i would be looking for a few Mexican turbo's to keep any "filamentous algae" from really getting a hold in the tank. I think you could order those from Red Coral

Still waiting for that invite to come see the tank. I'll bring the beer

Ahhh,

Much better.

Ok so I have started a scrub on the tank. Phosphate remover, Carbon, Nitrate remover load good for a 400g tank. It may be over kill but the dam algae wont have a chance. Now, its time to Pluck. . .

maybe i should just pay my 11 year old.. . all we need is a snorkel.
