It's not hippos, it's hypo for hyposalinity.

I think the affected fish are copperband and cleaner wrasse.

Once ick is out of a tank and the tangs are free of it, it will not return. I had a hippo tang and of course it got ich at the beginning but after treating him with hyposalinity it never returned, not even in periods of stress.

Ive never done a hypo treatment but I am under the impression you're suposed to drop the SG over a couple days not 5 hours...........
