Personally I find aquariums very therapeutic and relaxing. I can spend hours looking at the fish and their behavior along with the diferent variety of colors from different corals and observing symbiotic relationships is also extremely fascinating. I also find this hobby extremely difficult but very rewarding; honestly every visiting family friend(s) always sit glued to the tank and that's entertaining to watch as well. I've also read a few theories in which toddlers are calmed by aquariums and I do believe it also helps with their development. Time will tell this theory for me as the wife is due at the end if this month.
