Oh, tell me about it

Used to have a a whole whack of tanks culminating with a 180 gal reef. But then we sold our huge townhouse for a smaller brand new condo and decided our indoor finch aviary was more important the 180. So we got rid of it

Had to wait six months in a rental before our condo was ready and couldn't be without a tank so I quietly started up again with a 7gal bowfront nano. Oops, moved to the new condo and got a 2.5 gal bowfront to keep the 7 gal company. And right before our eyes, there was a perfect spot of a 42 gal hex Then came the 12 gal seahorse tank, but it wasn't big enough, so had to replace it with a 28 gal bowfront.

Our 10th wedding anniversary came along in July, so we bought a 72 gal bowfront and set it up hoping to stock it with more seahorses. Had the tank waiting for a particular species of SH to become available, but after two months decided to do an angel/soft coral tank instead.

In the meantime, our SHs had fry, so I set up an extensive fry raising outfit. SH fry turned out not to be my thing, and that's where the two 5 gals came from.

Believe me, you don't want to see our Visa bills after the last year

If we stay with just fish related charges I bet I could see your last year and raise you

who ever said a reef would cost ~50.00/gal was a little off... I think I am at about 150.00/gal now and I got most of my rock for 1.50/lb.

I think it is a disease with no cure in sight, something like making your own wine.
