All the fish stores are wrong then.....Keeping more than one in a big tank can possibly be risky let alone as many as you have in a small tank....And the Magnificent worries me....He is gonna die if thats what he is as they need VERY strong flow and very high light...they will perch themselves on a rock directly under a 400 watt halide..Stick with the bubble tips..They would be okay in your system but your gonna have to get rid of the rest. And if they walk into a powerhead or die when you are not home they can kill your entire tank.

In this hobby, there are no experts, just people with no experience, people with some experience, and people with alot of experience.

nobody knows everything there is to know about this hobby, but this does seem to sound pretty amature with what you are doing with your tank. im not trying to butt heads with anyone but honestly dude id slow it down and think about what you are putting in your tank. especially a smaller tank like yours. if you do something to make your magnificent mad and it dies or gets really stressed it will kill your entire tank over nihgt. a guy i know did the same thing and it ended up costing him a grand worth of fish and coral.
good luck

Really??? Flourishing hey?? Then either you don't know what you have or we will see a few weeks from now... A fish expert? We'll i know enough to ask for help when i need it and actually take the advice given to me. So i guess i am knowledgeable enough. And actually when it comes to Anemones i am pretty darn knowledgeable there to...I have 3 of the hardest anemones to care for next to the magnificent so i guess i must know something. I guess trying to give you some advice is out of the question because you apparently have all the answers and knowledge. Good luck on your tank |

What everyone is saying is correct. If one of those anemones die you are going to loss alot of your live stock. In such a small system i would only reccomend BTA's for that tank. Also never trust a bottle of mix. 99% of the stuff out there is just to make a newbie think they are achieveing something fast. Purple up for instance since it was refered to here. Its just concentrated calcium. If you proply dose calcium your not going to have any issues with coraline growth. I think purple up is a horriable product since it has the potential to cause calcium spikes, but so can over dosing. I used to work at a fish store and had many loyal FW customers who would speak to myself or a friend due to experience and we would tell they truthfully that most of our products were bullsh!t. The only line of products out there that i will put in my tank is tailored aquatic's, for one its canadian, and it works great. but back to the subject at hand. To the newly trained eye "cycle in 2 days" this seems awesome. 90% of people who first get into the hobby don't want to wait for a cycle so here is their loop hole so they can say, yes my tank has cycled. Double check all your parameters. I think some of the sadest stories you hear in this hobby is about crash's. Which I for one would never dream to hope that someone would go through.
The one thing i have learned about this hobby is that nothing comes fast to achieve the best results. Remember we are here to help you and each other on this forum. |

Anyways, if it was my tank of that size, I would be using a two part for calcium and alkalinity. Perhaps something like ESV 2-part or C-Balance or even Seachem products.
