There weren't any patches released this morning but there was an IE rollup patch that was released on the 9th (kb958215). This update has screwed a few people but not in a consistent way so I can't guess what to do about it. Outside of the standard "buy a Mac" and "install Ubuntu" type of advice of course.

It should be noted that this does not address the XML pointer problem that Snaz was talking about, there's no patch for that yet. Of course it could be that you got infected with something through that hole and then the patch you tried to install this morning failed because of it. If your scan reports no infections now maybe retry the update.
