Tony, the windowed rubeermaid is just that....Marc just cut out a window and sealed in some acrylic. Pretty cool, huh?

For those who do not know, I purchased the item which was for sale from Marc and Jamie.

The move is a little complex so it may take a few weeks.

Hey Tony,

The Tubs are made by Hagen, they are 50g goldfish tubs.

I used 1/4" Glass instead of acrylic to pevent bowing in the face of the tub.
I also Left quite of bit of "meat" for the silicon...the glass is almost as big as the whole inside face of that tub.

I had to sand the inside face with 60 grit for the silicone, and its strength is only good for pressure directly against the face...just like a glass tank if you twist it at all, she`ll pop!
But i made 2 of them over 2 years now with no troubles at all.

They are around $75 a peice.

HTH,

"Laguna" matata (no worries), Brad 8)

Thanks for the link Sam.

I was looking at a tub from a hydroponics place yesterday, which would work OK but was smaller (60l) and had some "rippling" sort of edging in the side so I don't think it was a good candidate for a cutout window. Never thought about pond supply ... DUH ... oh well. ops:

Yes, it was a play on words. "Hakuna matata" is Swahili for "no worries" or "no problem." 8) Of course after the Lion King, EVERYbody knows that ....
