Photo
Female is larger and typically darker Maroon colour. Male is smaller and more orange coloured.
Of course, these fish can change sex...so if you have two, the larger will become the female. In this case, the larger is alive and well at 3yrs, 9months.....the smaller at 1.5 years so far. Update: Over 4 years now for the larger female, and 2 years for the smaller male. This photo could have been taken yesterday as they still look exactly the same. They have laid eggs every 15-20 days for the past few years. Update - April, 2011: 6 years now for the female, 4 years for the smaller male. Still laying eggs like clockwork.

My Two GSM's died in a tank move, friend tripped and dumped them into the snow. They did not survive. Otherwise i am sure they would be around, they are quite hardy if not one of the more aggressive in the clownfish grouping.

My pair still going strong, female is one of the first fish I put in the tank when I started up. Mine are the more common white stripers though, not gold.
Some photos, from a few years back. One shows the pair not long after the pairing process, when they were still close to the same size. Other photo shows the significant difference in size once they had matured & were spawning.

Oops, two years went by without update. Both my clowns still doing well. The "female", being oldest (11) is starting to show her age a bit... I suppose the smaller male would be over 9 now.

Yep, mine are still kickin', doing their thing, Set up the tank January 2007 added 1st clown a month or so later, then clown 2 another month or 2 after that. So when 2017 rolls around, they'll both be 10 years old or older. Both were juvenile when I put them in, fairly small so likely no more than a year old.
Lost a number of fish over the years, but these 2 are bullet proof. Only other fish that comes close to their age in my tank is a Singapore (Vermiculated) Angelfish. I think there might be one of these poll threads on that species as well. Need to have look see.
