Approx. Duty cost on LED Lighting from China?
Justing wondering if anyone has ordered an Aquarium LED light from a China or Taiwan manufacturer. I narrowed it down to getting my feet wet with one that will cost around $185USD, plus $60 (3 - 5 day) shipping via DHL. This comparable to a good used MH light. I intend to use it for my Red Sea Max 130.
Anyone now how much duty/brokerage this is based on this if they ordered one or 2 led lights before? BTW, the specs are pretty good being 20 LEDs using CREE 3W XR-E Q5 series giving you 60W ( equal to a 250 MH they say ). Has no controller for all the special effects but does come with 2 timers for the blue & white. Also has 2 manual turn dials for the intensities of blue and white. cheers msjboy |

It's hard to say being it DHL, but you could call them and ask. If it was UPS you could be looking at around $80 or so. Can you post or PM me the link to the LED fixture's? I would be interested in taking a peek for curiosity sake.

due to interest.. here's info:
many people sending pms on lite so:
eshinesystems.en.alibaba.com/ or more specifically: eshinesystems.com/aquariumlight/60w-cree-led-aquarium-light.htm Don't go live ( or do it when it's nite time in China) because there's a pesky, (but informative )chat box where a sales person immediately starts asking you questions etc. I found out this at reefsantuary.com user who bought it swears by it since buying it a few months ago. check out the link!:reefsanctuary.com/forums/equipment/67414-my-cree-180w-led-thread.html ( user is pimpala) The price has dropped since he bought the lights. .. and BTW, it can be $100 each but of course you have to be a big company buying 1000's under contract. The company will also bring out a more powerful one(s) soon as well for those folks with 200 gallon and beyond tanks. Don;t suppose any group buy interest in Vancouver here? Might be cheaper for freight/duty/brokerage. Do you led experts on this forum here think - is this is a good lite albeit no fancy controller?; i am not too knowleagible of lights except 3W Cree's are supposed to be good and price seems ok for a newbie - ? so Plz let me/us know if this is a good lite... best regs msjboy |

thanks for the link.
not sure about the light but could never understand need for a light controller to have synching to phases of the moon or having lightning flashes (though do run my T5 actinics before and after my MHs are on).

I bought mine from Fish Street in Hong Kong. Had to pay total of 50 dollars for shipping by UPS. No additional duties or costs. Took about a week to my door
