![]() Ok this is probably a stupid idea but I came up with it in the shower
![]() have a new 180 coming this friday and its gonna be hooked up to a 40 gallon sump and 30 gallon refugium.... ... my RO/DI only produces 50GPD so 5 days to fill it up i was wondering, would it be possible to fill the tank with fresh, clean snow and let it melt to fill it? as long as the snow is clean, the water should be pure just like RO/DI right? maybe run the water through a UV sterilizer for a day just to make sure nothing is in it. what do you guys think? |

![]() patience patience.....5 days is a very short time to have to wait and if im reading it right if your not getting it untill friday coming and your ro/di produces 50 gpd then you should have more then enough come friday anyways??
cool idea but would take alot of time as snow doesnt melt down to very much and edmonton isnt really known for its clean snow lol ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Just curious but what makes snow any more pure than rain?
I surely wouldnt use rain water in my tank. |

![]() Yes Snow is by no means pure.
Like above patients. Just drip your RO, it's the safest |

![]() Just go to your local ro water store and get however many empty bottles you need they should just charge you a deposit on them then you can take them back when your done and get your deposit back.

![]() I'm not a scientist or anything... but based on all the garbage we release into atmosphere.... some of it will come back in snow and rain.....
I'd say stick to RO/DI!! 5 days is nothing in this hobby... I think 5 days of reefer time is equal to 5 sec of non reefer.. hahaha... just be patient. |

![]() skip the snow, as well as being a risk for contaminations you would only get about 10 to 20 gall of water out of 180 gal of snow.
