Default Broken Euro Reef 4 grabs.

Not far down the list I had asked what kind of skimmer I had that came as a 'kit' with my tank. (Used) The Euro Reef Skimmer came with ‘later discovered faulted areas’ that makes this skimmer useless.

Well, that just means I can get a new skimmer! Yay. You know there are a lot of skimmers I’ve read so far and yeah, they’re all neato new (like self cleaning options), I need some guidance; anyone for advice or what you are using is welcomed. For example, counter
current, that’s neato. What’s tried tested and true?

(FYI, I have a total water volume of 270 (and later upgrade top a 400g) with a high bio load. So what skimmer would you suggest? My sump and equipment have no ‘clearance restrictions’ as everything is below in the basement (5’ head).)

PS. I am pretty sure that some handy DIY’rs might like the parts from this ER Skimmer. I would trade for it; if you have anything like a test kit or two… just ask/offer. J I’ll hold onto it for a bit before I toss it.

Oh, happy v day to all.

I have an extra one of those parts (venturi intakes), if you want to bring the pump by, we can see if it works. It is for a euroreef also.

If it fits, its yours!!!

I wouldn't worry about the crack in the body, worst case you bond it with glue

That skimmer just needs some TLC! (unless of course you are really wanting a new skimmer). However, being a part of the euroreef fan club (TM) I should say that it really is an awesome skimmer and you'll spend quite a bit of money to find a skimmer that outperforms it.

Grab the venturi from global designs and paste some silicone over that little crack. As for the part on the pump (which I think the venturi will be attached to) my pump ran looking like that for 3 years with no problems

^^^ +1

I agree, plenty of life left in this skimmer.

Some Acrylic Weldon over the crack would work too. Weldon could also be used to fix that venturi intake if you wanted to fix it and keep it as a spare. I live in the SW, not far from globaldesigns, if you want to pop by one evening and visit us both, I would be happy to do that for you as I have plenty of spare weldon.

Tony/Delphinus lives 5 minutes from me, so I can go to his house. this will give me a reason, as I want to see his new setup, and I can bring the part and him and I can get that skimmer performing like new.

EuroReef is a high end skimmer, worth keeping.

Evenings and weekends for me Maybe Monday evenings are less preferable due to me having two VERY active little boys to myself. Think my weekend is wide open too. So pick a time and if for some reason I can't do it I'll give a counter-offer and we can go from there.
