Sony cyber-shot...is it any good?
I wanted a point and shoot for x-mas. I got a cyber-shot W220 but have resisted opening it yet. As far as camera's like this go is it any good? I've seen some great tank and macro pics come from little cameras like this but realize there are plenty to choose from.
Has anyone used a cyber-shot and got good tank pics? I can still take it back for a different camera that might be better for tank/reef pics. Thanks for any insight. |

Sony makes a decent small camera, I have bought a few for family, wife, etc.
I can't say about tank shots though, I personally used a canon 30d, nothing is better IMO than a DSLR

As far as point and shoot cameras go Sony makes very good ones. Tank shots will be Ok but certainly not like some of those you see around here by the experts. as stated before a DSLr is better but also significantly more money.

Thanks for the comments, we need a new "good" camera so when we are ready to buy I'll be looking for a DSLR. For now I'll take the sony out of the box and give it a try.

I take all of my macro shots with a pentax optio waterproof PAS....just dunk it in the tank and click....even Jdigital was moderately impressed with the macro capabilities of this camera.

I use a Sony cybershot DSC-W100 with 8.1 MP for pretty much all my reef shots. It certainly has many limitations but does ok.
