![]() Over the past year I have had a growth of large brown like kelp that grows on my rock, pumps and glass. It also gets a fuzzy grey growth on the kelp. It gows in a round, flat, mushroom shape and layers on top of each other...... and it grows like crazy.
Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? Thanks, Jim |

![]() Well, first off all kelp is algae but not all algae is kelp. A photo would really help out, from the description in sounds like some sort species of halidima a macro algae. Species like tangs and Seahares are great for controling it but your best bet is to fix the problem, increasing flow, decreasing nitrate/ phosphates and keeping a steady system. What are your tank parameters right now?

![]() Yup, wafer algae. You'll need a flame thrower to get rid of it
