![]() I just found a used Tru Vu 200 gallon acrylic 8'x2'x2' tank in good shape, but one of my friends told me it will not last long. After a few years it will start turning "yellowish" looking inside. The only good side he said is it never leaks. But the glass tank will become leaky some day in about 10 years or so and the front glass will always look the same. Is it true or not ? If it really is going to turn yellow looking on acrylic, is there any solutions to use to fix this problem intead of drainning the tank completely and polishing it ?

![]() Don't know about acrylic tanks but I've had a 66 & 50 gallon tank for 20 years before they started to leak.

![]() I read somewhere not too long ago that plexiglass yellows but acrylic does not.

![]() Acrylic and plexy are the same thing different trade names.
It is a time thing probably at least 10 plus years. These days they add UV stabilizers etc to plastics so if the tank is in good shape I would not be to concerned.
