Default not much algae on live rock

I am new to this but I am wondering how much algae should there be on my live rock? The piece that is closest to my more powerful powerhead is pretty white while the rest has more of a red color to it. There is also a spot with some green algae that looks like hair. Should I move my powerheads a bit? How do I know what it good algae and what is bad?

Default Excellent ID

An excellent ID page is http://www.melevsreef.com/id/algae.html, right now if I were you (and it sounds like the tank is just getting started) I wouldn't worry too much about algae growth just make sure your parameters are proper and your cycling is done. You will have some sort of nuisance algae it happens to everyone so just sit back and enjoy the diversity ride, eventually once your parameters stabilize you will be good to go.

thanks...the tank is new, about a month old. I just want to do everything right. I just didn't want to spoil my newly purchased live rock
