![]() My wife and daughter did a sleep over at the Van aquarium with her Sparks (girl guides) troop.
They took lots of pic's, These odd critters certainly caught my eye though. I'm guessing there some kind of newt, But can anyone else provide me with some more info.

![]() Well, it's part of the tiger salamander complex, but it doesn't metamorphose like the others so it largely keeps its gills and remains aquatic (apologies if i messed something up... im not well versed with amphibians). a quick google search should provide tons of info. I dont blame you for being fascinated by these guys. cute and wicked cool. and, unfortunately, very much endangered. critically so. go ahead, do a search on IUCN on them. something about mexico urban expansion and draining of the lake where they lived... kind of a sad story really.

![]() I remember seeing them the other week when we were there. Wife said they were called "Chicken Frogs" Not the scientific name of course LOL. She's got pretty much the same picture on her Cell Phone of them
