![]() I've got a workhorse 7 that powers my actinics (2x110). I've never had any trouble with it (for about 3 years now) until one day this week I came home and the all the power was off in my tank (it had tripped the breaker). I flipped the breaker back on and saw a spark fly off of the ballast and the power went out again.
I checked all the wiring at the back to see if there was anything obvious, but can't see anything (i'm no electrician). I tried pugging it back in, the flourescents come on for about a second, then a spark flys out of the corner of the ballast and the power goes out. Time to buy a new WH7 i guess? Any ideas? |

![]() good rule for electrical equipment around saltwater. When sparks start flying out, you need to replace it!!

![]() sounds like a grounding issue, or that Reef_Raf did your wiring..
![]() seriously though unplug it untill some one who knows something about electrical can come take a look. Steve

![]() Thanks guys - I'll probably replace it - I don't think it's a grounding issue, as nothing in the wiring or setup has changed.

![]() Also check your light sockets, make sure they are not shorted.
Another way to check it, remove your bulbs from the socket and reset the breaker and see if it trips again. If it does than your ballast maybe the problem. |
