![]() Masonary bit, but don't use PVC but 3/8" or 1/4" acrylic rod. You won't have much success drilling live rock wth a 3/4" bit without cracking the rock, so use the smaller acrylic rod and the corresponding drill bit. I also use hydraulic cement to cement the rocks together.

![]() I'll be drilling and building with acrylic rods on the weekend when I set up my new tank. Where do you get hydraulic cement? Is there a brand name I should look for?

![]() Lol I was going to suggest the acrylic rod and smaller holes, easier to drill like said, and also, much less visible when done.

![]() I used 2 pieces of 1/2 inch acrylic sheets on the bottom of my tank. I then used a drill press to drill holes were 1/2 inch acrylic rod was stuck into and glued. Some of these rods fit into holes in the LR that was drilled with a masonary bit. Seemed to go through my rock quite well. The other rods are just used to support other sections of the LR from underneeth. The whole thing worked well for me.

![]() i used something called aqua-tite (hydraulic cement)...got it from rona. i used 3/8" acrylic hollow rods and a masonary bit. the guy at the plastic shop told me that the hollow rods were stronger than solid rods.
