![]() Epson Salt is Magnesium Sulfate right? Can we use that to raise our mg in our tanks? I see a huge thing of Epson salt at walmart for like 8 bucks, way cheaper than mg sold in fish stores.
Thoughts? |

![]() Yes it's USP grade Magnesium Sulfate same or even a higher grade then sold in fish stores. Best to use the proper mix of 5 cups Mag Chloride and 3 cups Mag Sulfate for 1 gallon RODI water when dosing though. This is so that you don't build up excess sulfate in your tank from strictly dosing Mag Sulfate.

![]() Yeah, mix like dcw1sfu says if you use 2-part dosing system. If you have a calcium reactor, then the mix is 8.5:1.

I'm working on setting up a CA reactor and the media says it has mag in it but im sure ill need more at some point ![]()
