Default AI Sol upgrade to Hydra 54

Has anyone thought about buying the $299.99 upgrade kit for Sol to Hydra 54???

http://shop.aquaillumination.com/pro...t-sol-heatsink

other than wattage and full spectrum, what about the light spread? cause the 3 Sol over the 6' long and 24" tall tank which seems not enough coverage in between. Plus, I can't put any acropora below the middle level....

I wonder, does anyone know what's the life span of Sol?? obviously, it doesn't last forever..... I have been running it for about 3 years with apex controller, it also mean I can't use the apex anymore once it upgraded and another 100 bucks for the AI controller.....

I use the AWM for my apex and I like it. Its pretty easy to use. I use the fusion software on my mobile phone to control my apex and I really like it. I had a mare setting it up but once I got it going then it worked great.

I have 2 of the Hydra 52
My tank is 30" deep and the lights are 12" from the top of the water. They are way brighter than the regular Hydras as well as the Sols. Sorry cant help with controllors as i'm just using the AI controllor which works great.

how about color rendition compared to sols? I supplement with t5's (coral+ and purple+) and was debating on the upgrade. Don't really need additional power or brightness, just color. cheers
