I think if you were to slip a thin piece of black or paint over flow black the look would improve as the teeth would disappear just a thought

Are you meaning painting the back of the overflow black as in behind the teeth? yes that would make them disapear but the teeth are fine with me I was just refering to my silicone job and the fact that I had to modify it in the first place. I think it will just have to grow on me.

I was thinking the overflow box then if you look down they arent so noticeable and the silicone is fine as like painting a room the only one that sees the mistakes is the painter

yea that would definatly make them blend in more, but seeing the overflow teeth doesn't bother me, and your right we typically are our own worst critics.

+1, I would also make one taller. Very nice setup and tank!

Thanks!

I plan on "sculpting" the islands into different shapes with the placement of corals, and yes I agree one island should look taller. I hope to achieve that with the proper placement of corals.

So I am contemplating on going a different direction with my lights over this tank. I am thinking about swapping out the 48" tek elite 8 bulb for leds. What would you put over this tank in regards to leds?

Somehow I dont think my wallet or my my wife would be hahahahaha.
I am thinking going with AI SOL blues x 3 or the new Hydras x 3. Mounted front to back evenly spaced along the length of the tank. So like [ I I I ] not [ - - - ] or what would you guys recommend? Thanks for the input.

I'm sure some of you are wondering just what became of this tank, well...., after facing a couple hurdles namly my wife absolutly hating the 8 bulb tek elite fixture I tore the entire tank down inturn losing my hardscape. Although I knew I would be setting it up as a reef tank in the future I kept everything. After tearing it down I decided to make it a discus biotope style aquarium like my other tank that I have. I am a freshwater guy originally. So it just seemed like a no brainer. So this is what I made it into.....

So after finding myself very unhappy and constantly lurking on forums like canreef I woke up early one day and said screw this! I am going to tear it down again and try and rebuild my hardscape and sell off my tek elite 8 bulb ( which will be posted forsale soon if anyone is interested haha) and invest in some leds to appease my wife and so it began....

Sorry about the glare from the window the right side island is actually not touching the right pane at all and is quite aways away similar to my previous scape.

I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Its not the same as how it was before but I feel that I actually improved on it this time. Its really hard to get a feel for the new layout with the quick shotty cell phone pics. I will try and get some better pics up when I get back on friday. I was really worried about trying to replicate my past rockwork and I am very relieved that it was infact so easy believe it or not but this only took me roughly 15-20 mins. So what do you guys think?
