Honestly, I had fears before we saw this skimmer, it had some big boots to fill in terms of reputation, but when i saw it in the flesh and the size of that Eheim, man was i relieved, and your review really proves its worth and value.

Just off the phone from one our Ontario dealers, they have back orders coming out their ears!

Wait until you see the new little cones coming in soon in the economy NAC range the replacment to the NAC3 and NAC3 plus is awsome.

HOT skimmer

My BM150Pro even being in a tank way too small for it pulls gunk from no where it seems!

BM is the hot ticket in town right now for sure.

There seems to be an awful lot of emphasis put on warranty with BM and that BM won't stand behind it's product unless you only buy from one distributer. Am I reading into this wrong? It sounds to me like there is a lot of problems with BM products for all this warranty concern. I am looking at setting up a new 180g reef and want to get all the equipment together first including a good skimmer. I was looking at the BM brand but now I'm not so sure with all the concerns being brought up about product back up. I've never had any problems with any of my aquarium equipment before so I've never given warranty a thought, but after reading Aqua-Digital's post it's got me little concerned about the quality of the product. Has anyone had any issues with any of their BM products to date? For the price are they one of the better skimmers out there right now?

Hi

I understand fully your thinking about warranty looking from outside in.

NO there are no warranty issues at all, in fact we have not a single warranty claim to date.

The issue is us as the distributors making sure we can support people that have bought skimmers through us and not someone else, why would we wish to warranty another supply chain route?

This is all about protecting us from claims of products that were bought on the 'black market' so to speak.

Its all about what ifs and having a policy in place if the worst ever happened.

I have this same skimmer on my 90g and am very happy with it.

Well it's great to hear that you have had no issues with the product! What would you recommend for a well populated 180g reef tank? I don't understand though why you would be on the hook for the warranty, doesn't BM reimburse you for any warranty claims made? If I bought a Sony product and the retailer I got it from went out of business Sony would still honor the warranty themselves. When I worked at Zellers for awhile when I was younger anything brought back under warranty was sent back to the manufacturer for repair or the manufacturer repaid Zellers for a replacement item. I would hope that warranty claims don't come out of your own pocket after all BM is the manufacturer and should be responsible for their quality control. Regardless of who sells it BM still manufactured it.

Hi,

I would recommend the BM220cs for a heavily populated tank.

Yes BM do cover our claims if there was one, but only cover OUR claims, they have records of our purchases and if i tried to claim for a product we did not buy from them they would ask us to refer the claim to the distributor that did.

Walk into he sony store and ask them warranty a tv you bought at walmart and see what they say? same policy really.
