That Montipora samarensis (often sells as carrot digi) is dangerously close to that hydnophora. One day you may look and find what looks like a spiderweb going from that green hydno to the monti or a bare skeleton that used to be the monti.  I would give it at least 3 inches.

Yes, that hydnophora is a killer. You can see that I recently cut back that orange digi because it was growing too close. It might be years before the monti and the hydnophora meet, but I'll keep my eye on that.
It is tough because I want the coral to achieve large (OK... REALLY large) sizes, but I can't just mount two tiny frags 12" from each other and wait 4 years for it to look good.
