What's the weather like out in Calgary? I can't convince my husband to move out that way...

Ummm... now I'm baffled - you WANT to move HERE?!? The weather is dry and cold most of the year. This winter has been great, however, more like what you get there. Therefore, we want to move to Victoria, where half the year isn't wasted on the in-between seasons, when its neither cold enough or warm enough to do anything.

I'm with your husband, sorry... You have it really good and should never leave.

Like Allan said, why!!!!!????? I go to calgary once in awhile to visit friends but comon! You can actually see for yourself that the earth indeed is round!!! Thats sad in my book. No mountains unless your halucinating, no good lakes close by, and beer isnt even that cheap anymore.

Whatsamatter with Calgary weather. Should live out here or in the north, where I lived before.

Although we had a good life and made a good living in the north, I still regret leaving Calgary in 1972. For all of you watching cable, I was in on the ground floor with Calgary cable, when it started up. I use to work for Palco Electronics and we usually did school intercoms system, etc but took over most of the cable installs for awile.

Well, when I am rich and retire, I was thinking of Kelowna.
But I don't mind snow.
C'mon AJ, it can't be bad... I have a friend who lives in Calgary and he loves it!! I've been there once and enjoyed it myself. Work is said to be aplenty.
But for beauty, Abbotsford was nice. You had mountains surrounding your every move. Mt Baker was spectacular!

Calgary is flat ??? :? :?: I guess it's no Hong Kong, but it's no Delta B.C. or Houston TX either. When I had to visit Houston in the fall for a couple of weeks ... it felt like I was in a fish-eye lens, you know how the edges kind of curl up, and the center is at the deepest part of the depression of a bowl? That's what it was like down there. Block after block after block and you never go up or down more than 1" (unless you go in a building, or a freeway overpass). It was totally unnerving to never be able to see your surroundings.

I guess the NE of Calgary is pretty flat. I'm on the SW edge of the city, I drive no more than 30 minutes and I'm into the rockies. I guess we're not right in it, but at least we're closer than some. Edmonton is .. um .. what is it, a 2.5 hour drive from the mountains? Or maybe not that far, but regardless the mountains are a farther drive than they are from Calgary.

That said, this is all not to say I wouldn't move to the Island in a heartbeat. I do miss a large body of water nearby; and despite that I've known nothing else my entire life, I still cannot get used to those danged Chinooks (that's spelled M-I-G-R-A-I-N-E ... )

It is a prairie town I guess .... yeah it's nicer in BC, that's why we all go there for vacations! But it could be worse. Oh well, whatcha gonna do...
