Hello Darren,

Yes costs does add up, fast. I just did a cost analysis for a new calcium reactor design and the plumbing cost itself is around $40.00 CAD. It's hard to imagine considering each individual piece is like $0.50 to $1.50 each. Crazy.

Anyway, BCMAS is nice but I think if the name could incorporate West Coast (incl the Calgary people) would be better. In time if think take off, we can include the people from the East Coast as well.

And yes, it'd be great to have this as the home base when things are already running smoothly.

I think we should keep the club membership to those who have a chance at attending meetings. Nothing wrong with there being an Alberta club and a B.C. club, is there? Pretty tough to ask fees from people who won't be attending meetings. I'm not trying to be exclusive here, just realistic.

I have a suggestion that when considering the positions, we choose at least one person from each of the areas. This way both parts of the club/society/organization are represented.

Good Point Troy.

Asking for cash from someone who won't be able to partake in the meetings and such is a bit too much to ask.. I think you are right. Keeping the membership for the local area is realistic.

Lets start small. We have a good start already with those who participate here.

We can take what I had already made up for the club I was hoping to start in Victoria.

MASV. Marine Aqu. Soc. of Vancouver(used to Be Victoria).

I know it is kind of generic. But as it stands now I have the web page already made adn ready to upload as soon as I get home. Change members names etc add a few links and it is up and running. just like that.. It isn't hard to get a domain name set up with www.masv.com or whatever..

Thoughts?

I liked the MASV site, I thought it looked good and would serve the purpose well. See what everyone thinks, saves a bit o work maybe too.

Down the road(after I get home) I will upload all the stuff I have and work on it when I can..

I think that organizing the club can't hurt. It doesn't mean that we can't meet the same way we have been. All it means is that we have a larger purpose. We mix a little business with the beers. I brought this up at the very first meeting we had. We could make a go it if people are really intent on making it happen.
