Not as thick as you wanted maybe?

Yes, this is the missing detail! The tank is 3-side Starphire and the eurobrace was supposed to be Starphire too, but it's just plain float. It's a beautiful green one-piece polished eurobrace.
Regardless, I'm still happy with the tank. It looks great - super sleek. |

25% right. I think my dark pics threw you off. That's how it's supposed to be. Though I think I made the gap too big. Me too! Thickness is fine. |

I started off with no teeth on my overflow because it's supposed to pull the water better. All was well for a few months until some of the smaller fish found out it was a water slide! I was pulling fish out of my overflow or sump every day. Beautiful looking tank BTW!

Lovin the new tank Mindy
For your overflow ... You could silicone some small glass strips inside the box - one set for spacers and slightly thicker than the acrylic you'll use, and a second set to hold a sheet of acrylic with teeth cut out of it. Then you just slide your acrylic up and out of the box for cleaning. I realize you'll lose some of the weir effect, but it'll keep your critters where they belong. Or you could get inventive and design a mesh 'box' to cover 'some part' of the weir.

New idea ...
Vertical strips of glass on the left and right ends of the weir say 1/4" thick. These keep the weir running 100% as they will space the acrylic 1/4" away from the back glass (inside the overflow). Next is some strips @ 90 degrees to the first strips. These hold the ends of the tooth sheet. And lastly is some vertical strips @ 90 degrees to the second strips. These hold the tooth sheet in place against the second set of strips. I like this idea so much I'm going to incorporate it into my upcoming build. |
