Kaldnes Bio Reactor

We recently highlighted modifying the Bubble Magus BP reactors for the use in Kaldnes Bio media. and here are the impressive results!

we added 1L of Kaldnes for a 225G system and this is the results. Our new system which has been up and running for 9 weeks, as of 5 days ago the nitrate was at 60ppm and rising due to the addition of fish. We added the Kaldnes reactor and within 5 days the Nitrate was down to 10ppm.

Kaldnes is a high surface area bio media that when put in a reactor it constantly sloths off old dead bacteria to be renewed with new. the fast agitation enables high yield of bacterial growth over a very short period of time. The media has been used in fish farms and Koi ponds for decades, but very much overlooked in our hobby area, mainly due to the reactors required.

Kaldnes is available on Amazon and many other places (no need for us to try and distribute it) make sure you get pure material not recycled.

As of today we will be marketing BP reactors pre modified as BP-Kaldnes reactors.
