Default Give it a try

Don't buy a new skimmer until you have tried out the old one. It may work out just fine. If you think you need more skimming and have the room, you could just buy another skimmer to put into the sump along side the old one.

thats a really good idea, 2 skimmers probably be better than 1 bigger one.1 wet skim one dry skim

I was running my vertex 150 in a 200g display 50g in the sump and it did a better job than the reef octopus diablo I was using rated for 500g so I think the skimmer should be fine . IMO

I don't have any experience with this but I've read that running two skimmers doesn't work the way one would expect. Apparently they tend to compete with each other and ultimately bring down the performance of both (ie: the sum is less than the total of the parts). Seems counter-intuitive. Anyways, if that's the route you go I'd be interested in reading your outcomes.

Hmm well il try the one I got hopefully it's enough . If not and I get 2 il post result with measured skimate.
