I'm looking to upgrade, so I'm in the market too. I'm looking for the same as you GoFish, except I'd also like it to record on a loop (as long as possible). Is that something you want too, or just live cam?

Recording doesn't really matter to me, it's more to know if something is wrong rather than how it happened...White balance would be a nice option! Not likely though i guess.

Couple questions about the foscam, does it come with an app or do you have to purchase, how well does it work? And whats up with the $39 installation and setup add on, is that needed? I'll look up the trendnet too gotta get back to work, thanks ![]() |

I myself am going to buy a new zmodo one from banggood.com. .. for home surveillance too, not just fish. Seems ok for $399USD -$586cdn. (free shipping).720p, 1TB drive that records all 4 cameras in 50 day cycles I recall. Here is link:

http://www.banggood.com/Zmodo-720P-H...p-1020590.html I believe Zmodo sells their extensive cameras at Bestbuy usa, but not this new model. Not sure if it has options not to record or not. It is 4 cameras (needs power that's it and records 200 fps, ); I looked at Netgear Arlo but I don't like changing batteries every 6 months and it's not continuous. msjboy Last edited by msjboy; 01-14-2016 at 05:29 PM. |

That Zmodo looks awesome! I like that it's indoor/outdoor too. Whole house surveillance for only a bit more than just the tank.

I have a Foscam and it worked great for several years. Then I changed my router, and be darned if I can get it working again. I attached it directly with a lan cable, pushed the reset button, etc, but for some reason it just won't connect (be recognized by the router). I tried my old router again, but it doesn't see it either anymore. So no idea what is wrong, but looks like it is just an ornament now.

Many choices out there these days. Tough to make a decision for sure. Found this utube, a few years old (2013), but an informative comparison of 4 different camera makes. It appears certain cameras react quite differently when they are showing an outdoor daylight scene vs a shot of a static poster. There are probably much improved versions of these out there today, but in this case the Zmodo didn't look that good.
