It's an Echinometra mathaei. Common burrowing urchin or boring urchin. They tend to come in as tiny juveniles in corals etc. Then they grow out in your tank.

Yeah im going with rock boring. I put a piece of live rock in my frag tank to test it and he was instantly burrowed into the cracks. Cool looking urchin though.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. That urchin doesn't look boring at all. It looks quite exciting to me.

I have had that urchin for about 8 years now , they are really cool and my bumble bee shrimp hangs out in him . Go get a bumblebee shrimp from oceans so he can have a driver lol

Do they have a symbiotic relationship in the wild? I'll have to look into that. Seems like he'll be hiding in the rock a lot. I added a piece into the frag tank and he went right to it and burrowed
