I've put bigger chips into tanks drilling them. I have a 120 that has a bigger chunk off glass missing from the centre of the bottom pane then that one. But there clean chips. Only spalled with no cracks. If it's a clean chip and has only spalled or broken away then it would probably be fine but I wouldn't leave it as it is now. If it's got cracks that have started running off of it which feasibly could not be removed then your prob sol. Clean spall/chip and no cracks and you want to attempt to use it then sand/buff out the entire effected area. Round out all the sharp and hard edges as those are what will be prone to fracture. Simply put, remove the chip by removing more glass. We remove glass to drill holes in our tanks all the time so what gets removed from a chip and it's repair not a huge deal in most cases. But no guarantee. You are the one who assumes any risk so you decide your comfort level. Not my tank, livestock and living room so don't just take my word for it. I'm not advising either way. Just sharing my own experiences.
