If you want silence out of the box then eheim are the way to go. But I've also had a mag drive 950 on my 90 gallon with herbie for over 6 months and the first month or so was a little noisy but now everything is just a gentle hum from the tank.

Hey Andy, the reeflo darts are good, although I'm not too sure about power consumption ? Maybe others will chime in.
