It probably got into a fight with another fish and got bitten. I wouldn't worry about the marks no matter what the cause was. However the fish does look very thin. Feed him/her more.

Do any of your other fish have spots like this? could be a bacterial infection after a nasty scrape

I feed a fair amount and he is a good eater. I agree he looks thin.....

No other fish have spots like this.....
