Default Ideas for mounting aquarium lights

I currently have a terrible setup for mounting my lights that I'd like to correct.

I have 2 maxspect razors, and would like to figure out a decent way to mount them that doesn't look horrible.

I would hang them from the ceiling, but I have an 8' ceiling with stucco and I doubt it would reach/work.

Can I get away with just some L brackets against the back wall? Or does anyone know of something that would 'clip' onto the back of my aquarium, and let me mount it that way?

I'd also like to get the lights 1 - 1.5 ft above the water, so I can get rid of the dark spot I currently have between the lights. Thinking L brackets on the wall might be the only way to accomplish this.

If you don't mind putting two smallish holes in your roof you could suspend the whole thing on two pieces of aircraft cable. Paired with some adjustable anchors it would be infinitely adjustable. Make a clean looking aluminum rack to mount the two fixtures to, attach the cables to the rack. Voila, clean looking adjustable light rack. Also, you could change light fixtures whenever you wanted.

Have a look at the bosch rexroth aluminum framing.

The 20-series profile is pretty cheap. Even Mark from Mr. Saltwater tank uses it to mount the Radions over his new tank.

The design is only limited by your imagination.

Skip to 6:00min to see his light rail.

The stock hanging kits that come with the maxspect should be plenty long and are real clean looking

Funnily enough, this was exactly the case, lol.

That actually turned out fairly well.

considering that was the before, yeah it looks amazing!

now if only I could figure out how to incorporate my AI Sols as well... I'd have enough PAR to burn through to china!

Think it'll work if I gently tin a spot on the wire so I can snip the excess off?

Mike paletta (sp?) recommended a bracket/wires used for greenhouses (if you search mike paletta lighting experiment in YouTube it will come up). I too have 9' ceilings and I am not willing to drill into my ceiling or walls. I have a giesmann 48" light with 2 MH and 2 T5 bulbs so it's stupid heavy. I bought it used and the lady I bought mine from got 2 mental pipes from Home Depot and got them to bend it. It's mounted to the back of my stand with a u bracket with 2 lug nuts. Drilled 2 holes into my stand for every bracket (each pole has 2) and the top part of the pole was drilled big enough to fit the hanging hardware that is meant to fit into the ceiling. I LOVE it! And when we decide to upgrade to LED it will still work for those too.
If you want pics send me a PM and ill send you some.
