I could see an LFS not caring about a pseudo chromis (looks like a Gramma) but not sure why they would potentially sacrifice a peaceful fish like a Gramma.
Maybe try a better store that if they take it in they will find a good home. Any LFS can sell a Gramma. Ludicrous to accept an offer from a store like that. Shop elsewhere. Good luck finding a home. I'm sure you will.
