My tank is running around 78 +or- . I read somewhere (and I can't find the article again) that while corals may benefit from warmer temps, many of the fish we keep actually have shorter overall lifespans at those warmer temps and actually thrive in a bit cooler temps. If memory serves me correctly they recommended a constant temp of between 78 - 80 to be the optimum temp for everything to be healthy.

So thanks to everyone, still lots of opinions about the "Right" temp, so after reading all your thoughts and reading on line about coral and fish metabolism I have set my temp at 79 and set with a controller so will be stable.
